What is Libratone?
I first found out about Libratone, this amazing Danish brand, back when I worked at Apple. Apple used to carry this brand for a few years but I haven’t seen it in store for quite some time. However, this company hailing from Denmark has very interesting audio products — both technology and design wise.
When I found out they launched a new pair of wireless on-ear headphones, I immediately contacted them to see if they’d be interested in a review on my blog and they happily accepted my offer.
A few weeks later, the headphones were coming in the mail and my musical journey was about to radically change.
Why did I get these headphones?
I already knew about the performance and overall quality of their speakers so I assumed their headphones were as good — and I was right!
I wanted headphones that were looking good, had a noise cancelling feature and that most importantly were wireless.
Wireless
The wireless feature is really important to me because I already have enough other cables to carry around for my photography gear — the fewer cables the best.
Noise Cancelling
The noise cancelling feature was something I wanted real bad, because let’s face it, who wants to hear the sound of the subway each morning? Definitely not me! This feature usually only comes with really expensive audio products so I was pleased to see the feature at such a low price point. https://www.libratone.com/us/products/q-adapt-on-ear
Look
Obviously, I wanted headphones that had a certain flair for design and that weren’t over the top or with too many details. These headphones are very elegant and comfortable. The small bird detail on the right ear illuminates when the headphones are on and it looks awesome!
I also wanted lightweight headphones that were easy to carry when I travel through the city or abroad.
Using the Libratone Q Adapt On-Ear Headphones
I’ve been using the headphones for a few weeks now and I’m really happy with them. They basically cover all of my urban commuter needs as well as my travelling photographer needs.
On a daily basis
In order to make a real life review of this product, I wanted to try them for a few weeks. I had the occasion to use them in a very wide variety of situations — walking down the street, hopping on the subway, working for several hours in a coffee shop, waiting at the airport, taking a plane, etc.
I have to say I was a bit sceptical about the active noise cancelling (ANC) before I received the headphones but they didn’t disappoint at all on this matter. I really liked the fact you could adjust the level of noise cancellation — through the free Libratone app — depending on the type of situation you’re using the headphones.
Also, one thing that is often hard to deal with on wireless headphones is the pairing with different products. It was surprisingly easy to pair with my iPhone, Apple Watch, MacBook & iMac.
Another thing that is a bugger for me when it comes to over or on-ear headphones is the fit with glasses. I have to wear prescription glasses everyday and most headphones in that category will push against the glasses branch and will, therefore, make it very uncomfortable to wear for several hours.
Speaking of several hours, I really liked the fact you could use them for over 20 hours without recharging them — perfect for that long haul flight across the globe.
Sound quality
The sound quality was as good as I expected with most of the music I listen to. However, if you’re a fan of classical music, this might not be the best pair of headphones for you since it doesn’t seem to cover the really low and really high frequencies.
Touch features
What makes this pair of headphones really special in my opinion are the touch features. It allows you to play, pause, skip the track and adjust the volume. Your smartphone can easily stay in your pocket whilst having total control over your music.
Final thoughts on the Libratone Q Adapt On-Ear Headphones
I was really pleased to test these headphones out. I had a very positive experience with them and I think it boasts a lot of features found in higher price range headphones. The only thing I would change would be the ability to add more sound profiles through the app because it’s kind of limited with the 3 current profiles to cover all the types of music.
I really recommend these headphones if you’re looking for a comfortable pair of headphones, packed with a lot of great features, with a good design and an awesome battery life. It’s a really good compromise if you’re not willing to spend 500$+ on a pair of headphones.
Disclaimer: I received the headphones free of charge from Libratone, however, all opinions are my own and I wasn’t paid to write this article.
Ils ont vraiment l air confortable, sont jolis et intéressant pour les personnes qui portent des lunettes merci.
