This summer, more than ever, Quebecers’ holidays will be marked by local tourism: in Quebec — and that’s good news, because our beautiful province has a multitude of destinations offering 1001 possibilities.
Given the nature of my work as a photographer, I have had the opportunity over the past few years to visit most of Quebec. Last summer, I had the opportunity to visit Trois-Rivières. Located halfway between Montreal and Quebec City, this city in the Mauricie region is the perfect place for a day (or two!) getaway.
Iced cappuccino at Café Morgane
One of my favourite beverages is coffee and what better way to drink it than at a local business like Café Morgane? I opted for their iced cappuccino made with maple milk — a real treat!

Thrift shopping at PURR VNTG Boutique-Atelier
After a good dose of caffeine, it’s the perfect time to visit PURR VNTG Boutique-Atelier. They have some great vintage finds in both clothing and home accessories. I love this kind of shop and you can go back often as there are always new arrivals.

Shopping spree at Le Brun en ville
Le Brun en ville is a old general store located in downtown Trois-Rivières. You can find a multitude of products such as vintage candies, kitchen accessories as well as a good selection of zero-waste products.

Historical guided tour with Baptiste Leblanc
After a bit of shopping, it’s time for a little guided tour of Old Trois-Rivières with a historical figure: Baptiste Leblanc. The visit is really interesting and it allows you to find your way back to explore later.

Lunch and water sports at Maïkan Aventure / Resto Bar Le Chack
If you have a thirst for adventure and want to have a bite to eat, the ideal place in Trois-Rivières is at Maïkan Aventure where you will find the Resto Bar Le Chack.

Cultural immersion at the POP Museum
The Musée POP in Trois-Rivières offers a comprehensive view of Quebec’s popular culture. Many interesting exhibitions are currently on display and it is the perfect opportunity to learn more about Quebec art and culture.

Visit the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières
Until the mid-1980s, this prison was still in use and became “famous” because of the completely inhumane human conditions that existed there. When visiting the prison, one can quickly understand how inhuman it was to live there, even for prisoners. Sensitive hearts, please refrain from visiting the dungeons at the Vieille Prison de Trois-Rivières.

Enjoy an apéro at Le Temps d’une Pinte
The happy hour in Trois-Rivières is happening at Le Temps d’une Pinte. The place is super cozy and the beer is really good. Moreover, the food is very good with a varied menu. Special mention to the Faux Falafels!

Gourmet dinner at Poivre Noir
To end the day in style, we go to Poivre Noir, near the Port of Trois-Rivières. When the weather is nice, you can also enjoy a superb view of the St-Lawrence from the dining room.

Breakfast at Café Frida
One of the most famous places in Trois-Rivières is definitely the famous Café Frida, a haven for vegan food lovers. The breakfasts are so good and copious that they will seduce any carnivore. I love the “fried chicken” and the waffles.
