You have to try Sucrerie du Domaine: the best sugar shack around Montreal
When I think about sugar shacks, I think about a huge cafeteria style room where they serve somewhat good food in a very traditional setting — picnic tables, loud conversations, kids on a sugar high running around and waiters in kitsch costume. Definitely not the experience you will get at the best sugar shack: Sucrerie du Domaine in Chertsey — an hour away from Montreal.

Modern Sugar Shack

If you are looking for the ultimate sugar shack experience with a modern twist, look no further— Sucrerie du Domaine is what you’re looking for.
You’ll find yourself in a very intimate and inviting dining room covered in wood — they can have a maximum of 50 people at a time.

In case you’re wondering about the menu, they offer two options — regular and VIP. I had the opportunity to experiment the VIP menu and it was beyond expectations. While a bit more expensive than the Regular menu, the VIP has the advantage of being in an even more intimate setting — in a private room. Also, the menu is much more extensive than the regular option.
The menu at Sucrerie du Domaine

As the menu was very extensive, I won’t mention every single item — you can see on their website — but a few dishes worth of mention caught my attention.
Maple Syrup Smoked Pork Butt (Fesse de jambon de notre fumoir au sirop d’érable)

Puffed Omelette aka The Cloud (Omelette soufflée (le nuage))

CVA Meat Pie (Tourtière AVC)

Maple Glazed Braised Bacon (Bacon braisé glacé à l’érable)

The Famous Homemade Duck Foie Gras Baloney (Le fameux *Baloney* maison au foie gras de canard)

Scotch Eggs

If you want to make sure to have the chance to experiment this crazy modern sugar shack, you should consider making a reservation right now as I’ve heard it’s very popular.
