Viva Las Vegas! As a foodie travel blogger, I was very excited to finally visit this city beyond the casinos, the Las Vegas sign and the fountains at Bellagio, during this road trip through Nevada. Conveniently located a short flight away from many major American and Canadian cities like San Francisco and Winnipeg, Las Vegas is an ideal weekend getaway. In this post, I will share with you some of the amazing culinary experiences I had in Vegas, from dining at luxurious all-you-can-eat buffets to trying the delicious food of local chefs. I will also talk about the beautiful photo opportunities the city has to offer. If you’re a food lover planning a trip to Las Vegas, this post is for you!

Walk along the Las Vegas Strip during sunset
Ok, I know what you’re thinking: didn’t you say “best things to do beyond the Strip?” Yes… but as the sun begins to dip below the horizon, the neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip come to life and there’s a little je ne sais quoi about it. The golden hour light casts a warm glow over the bustling crowds, making for some truly stunning photography opportunities. Walking down the Strip during sunset allows a travel photographer to capture the energy and excitement of the city in a way that is both vibrant and intimate. From the iconic fountains at the Bellagio to the towering hotels and casinos, there is always something new and interesting to photograph. The combination of natural and artificial light at this time of day creates a unique and visually striking atmosphere, making it the perfect time for any photographer to capture the magic of Las Vegas.

Have dinner at The Buffet at Wynn
Dinner at The Buffet at Wynn in Las Vegas was truly a culinary experience to remember. As a food blogger, I was excited to sample the wide variety of dishes on offer, and I was not disappointed. The selection was truly impressive, with everything from classic American comfort food to international flavors on offer. The quality of the food was top-notch, with each dish being expertly prepared and full of flavor. The standout dishes for me were the freshly-carved roast beef and the seafood station, which had an impressive array of lobster, shrimp, and other delicacies. Overall, The Buffet at Wynn is a must-visit for any foodie visiting Las Vegas. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, and the food is simply outstanding.

Afternoon relaxation at Downtown Container Park
Spending an afternoon at the Downtown Container Park in Las Vegas with a friend is the perfect way to relax and enjoy the city. The park is filled with unique shopping and dining options, all housed within repurposed shipping containers. The lively atmosphere of the place, with music and entertainment, added to the fun. It was the perfect way to spend a leisurely afternoon in Vegas. Don’t forget to bring your camera and snap a your new profile pic while you’re there!

Lunch at Carson Kitchen in Las Vegas
Lunch at Carson Kitchen in Las Vegas was a true culinary delight. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with an open kitchen that allows you to watch the chefs at work. The menu, which is constantly evolving depending on the seasonal offering, is also filled with creative and innovative dishes that are sure to please any foodie’s palate. You got to make sure to try the crispy chicken skins and the devil’s eggs, which are both very yummy and worth going back.

Thrift shopping beyond the Las Vegas Strip
Thrift shopping in the suburbs of Las Vegas is a great way to find unique, one-of-a-kind items at affordable prices. The suburbs offer a wider selection of thrift stores compared to the city, so you can spend a whole day treasure hunting and rummaging through racks of clothes and shelves of knick-knacks. It’s always fun to go thrift shopping in other parts of the world, since people usually dress different than back home. Plus, the money you save on clothes can be put towards other experiences and adventures during your trip. My friend Mary found two absolutely beautiful pieces that we had the pleasure to shoot later during our trip.

Photoshoot in the desert at golden hour
As a photographer, heading out to the desert with my friend Mary dressed in a stunning sequined dress for a photoshoot during golden hour was an exciting and unique opportunity. The desert provides a stunning and expansive backdrop, and the warm, golden light of golden hour adds an extra layer of magic to the photos. Planning and timing the photoshoot to take place during golden hour ensures that the lighting will be just right, adding warmth and depth to the images.

Visit Seven Magic Mountains art installation during sunset
Visiting the Seven Magic Mountains art installation, by artist Ugo Rondinone, for a quick photoshoot during sunset with my friend was a thrilling experience. The colorful towering sculptures provided a stunning backdrop for my friend’s new thrift shop find — a beautiful outfit that really stood out against the desert landscape. As the sun was setting, the different hues added a magical touch to the photos, and we had a great time exploring the area and finding the perfect angles to capture the beauty of the installation. It was a fun and memorable photoshoot, and I’m glad I was able to share it with my friend Mary.
