Structure Coffee Roasters Montreal
Structure Coffee Roasters finally opened their own coffee shop in Montreal — precisely in the Old Montreal neighbourhood. They’ve been around for the past year or so and we’ve been buying their beans for our Chemex at home. I discovered Structure at Yo & Co — my favourite local coffee shop in Ville-Émard.
After working on the plans and the local for a few months, they finally opened their very first coffee shop in this prime location right at the junction of Cité du Multimédia and Old Montreal.
I visited the location one day prior to the official opening on February 1st and was able to test a few baked goods and of course their coffee.
Let’s dig in what Structure co-owners — Mathieu, Jérôme & Marco — have in store for us.
The space at Structure Coffee Roasters Montreal
The space has been thought and designed by local architect Henri Cleinge — which is known for the design of Crew Collective & Café.
No details were left behind: from the giant coffee bar — which is the epicentre of the coffee shop — to the chairs, lighting and customer flow. Everything was thought to have a fabulous coffee experience whether you wanna stay for hours, grab a coffee to go or have a chat with your friends.
On each side of the coffee shop, you’ll find shelves that showcase different coffee-related goods and their own beans. It almost feels a tiny coffee museum — everything is well presented.
I had a huge crush on the filter coffee mugs by Marie-Claude Girard Céramiste.
The coffee at Structure Coffee Roasters Montreal
A huge plus of this coffee shop is indeed their beans — which are sourced and roasted by the owners. It really makes a difference because they have total control over the entire process from the green bean all the way to your latte.
They’ve been developing and refining the roasts you’ll find at the coffee shop for months so you’ll be sure to have a perfectly balanced cup of coffee each time.
The food at Structure Coffee Roasters Montreal
One of my favourite bakeries in Montreal is definitely Automne Boulangerie — but I rarely have the chance to sample their products because they’re basically on the opposite side of where I live. Thanks to Structure, this ride to Automne is now cut in half and they offer many amazing classics of Automne. They also have a brioche bread which is served with caramel from La Lichée, so scrumptious. Pro tip: if you want a delicious quick bite with your coffee, you gotta order the croissant jambon fromage, it’s to die for!
My verdict of Structure Coffee Roasters
- Great coffee roasted by the owners of the coffee shop so you know the quality control is on point and you know you’ll have a good coffee
- Lovely space good for hanging out & working — there are a few communal tables with outlets underneath
- Amazing baked goods by Automne Boulangerie.
- They have the fastest Wi-Fi I’ve seen in a coffee shop in Montreal. Check out the Speedtest I ran while I was there
- The only thing missing would be some kind of breakfast to eat with your coffee, especially when you’re there on the mornings or on weekends. Some kind of toast, perhaps?
