Genie is simply pure genius
A few days ago on Instagram, I came upon the Story of Josiane from Ton Petit Look to discover she documented the delivery process from this new service called Genie. A few moments later, here I was liking their Facebook page where all the magic happens.
What is Genie?
On their website, they describe Genie as a personal assistant that you can reach through Facebook Messenger, “just like you would contact a friend”.
They claim you can ask for anything, unless it’s illegal, they’re going to fulfill your request — according to their Facebook page, they also like challenges, so go ahead and test them! You can get a MacBook Pro delivered to your current location, as well as McDonald’s or your favourite fast food chain! The possibilities are infinite.
I did test the service for the purpose of this article and here’s how it went…
How to use Genie?
First of all, the best part about this service is they use an app and service you’re probably using hundreds of times a day: Facebook Messenger. If you are not on Facebook yet, you’re gonna have to create an account in order to use Genie — but let’s face it, who’s not on the most popular social network nowadays?
Then, you’ll need to think of something that you want to be delivered by your new best friend personal assistant. Sky’s the limit — they literally give “a helicopter ride” as an example on their website.
Once you made your mind, simply contact Genie on Facebook Messenger by telling what you want. Genie will then ask you what is the location you want your request to be delivered.
After that, Genie will take a few moments to process your request and come back to you with the total price and time estimate.
If you’re okay with the price and delivery time, they’ll send you a link to a transactional website where you’ll be able to pay with your credit card.
I tried it yesterday while I was enjoying a sunny afternoon at the park with my boyfriend. The entire process was completely flawless and fast. Unfortunately, the delivery time was a bit too long for us because we had to leave soon but I’ll definitely give it another try soon!
As most of app or web-based services, they offer 20$ on your first request for a limited time so go ahead and grab your free stuff!
Where is Genie available?
According to their website again, Genie is theoretically available everywhere. The service is based in Montreal but as they virtually can partner up with any commerce & service throughout the country, there is potentially no limit to the service.
